Air Coolers for Heavy-Duty Trucks
Formed tanks are used on a majority of Griffin thermal transfer
products. Formed tanks eliminate the need to weld edges or right
angles. The only welding required is at the tank to header area.
This area is reinforced by a header design that is equivalent to
the same material thickness as the tank. The additional tank to
header thickness provides added strength for severe operating conditions.
Where formed tanks are not possible, Griffin uses an extruded u-shaped
tank. The extruded tank provides design flexibility for medium to
large capacity products. Extruded tanks also allow for increased
operating pressures.
For normal to heavy duty operating conditions, Griffin
uses high frequency welded tubes. In typical aluminum radiators
for OEM and industrial applications, a water tube thickness of 0.32mm
and a fin thickness of 0.08mm is used. Griffin uses a water tube
thickness of 0.40mm and a fin thickness of 0.127mm. Increased water
tube and fin thickness provides additional strength and enhances
heat transfer characteristics.
